I played with the toolbar over the weekend. It's not at all intrusive.
In fact, it's so unintrusive that it's easy to forget about. Users will
need some help. I'm wondering what the effect would be of making the
Petname toolbar more visible than the URL field, perhaps even obscuring
all or part of it. Mouse over can be used when you want to see the URL.
If that's unacceptable for every use, perhaps it could be the behavior
when visiting a site with a password field. At the very least, Ping's
idea of a transient message should be used when there's a password field
on a page from an untrusted site.
