Sorry, my finger slipped and I sent this prematurely.

Io Community Manager is the only major app written in Evlan at this time.
All the "real-world use" is use of this application. To my knowledge, no
one other than me has written any significant code of their own in Evlan,
but hundreds -- probably thousands -- of peolpe have interacted with IoCM.

The point I'm trying to make here, though, is that IoCM only took two months
for one person (me) to develop (including testing) in Evlan, and somehow
many "power users" of this kind of software have chosen it over big-name
alternatives.

In the case of the ATDP program at Berkeley, they had an interesting class
teaching students how to maintain internet communities. Each student
actually maintained the class web site for one of the other classes. Each
student was introduced to four software packages which they could use to run
their web site: IoCM, Manila, MovableType, and phpBB. The first year, 33
of 54 chose IoCM. The second year, 40 of 44 chose IoCM.

Of course, this isn't a scientific poll; there people teaching the class
were freinds of mine and probably introduced some bias (although *they*
originally asked *me* if they could use it, not vice versa). But,
nevertheless, people did like it. The point is, it was good enough to be
competitive. And I think the reason I was able to develop something
competitive in such a short time was because I had better tools. :)

Is that "Real World Use" chart the last?

Yes. After that I did a live demo.

The slides are meant to go along with a spoken component. Without the
spoken component, the slides probably don't make a ton of sense. I included
the link mostly for the benefit of those who were at the talk who wanted to
review.
