I am reasonably comfortable with Charlie's names.  In the case where we
are not interested in how the abstraction is implemented, we have the
feeling that it is one thing, instead the feeling of a collection of
things.  I think this approach will make these ideas easier to teach,
and won't confuse people who later decide to learn the details of a
particular implementation.
