Dear People of cap-talk:
The reason that I posted the announcement about Allmydata-Tahoe v0.4
to the cap-talk list is that Tahoe v0.4's encrypted directory scheme
is largely inspired by the theory of capability access control, and
it involves some clever techniques (due to Brian Warner) to provide
fine-grained access control in a decentralized way. The design
includes read-only, read-write, and transitive-read-only access, as
well as revocation.
Brian has not yet written a summary of his design, but the user-level
consequences of the current implementation are apparent from the user
documentation [1] and the user interface. The source code is, of
course, fully available. A good starting point is "codemap.txt" [2].
Regards,
Zooko
