Then we desperately need to spend some time fixing that, because we will
not succeed unless we have someone -- preferably multiple someones --
who can do that role.

In fact I do not think that things are as bleak as you believe. Several
of us have managed to get large organizations to commit serious efforts
at this point. Speaking only for myself, Coyotos is near to
demonstrable, and you are going to see a full public marketing push on
that system when it is appropriate to do so.
