This is clearly true, but it does not conform to the ethos of people who
build and advocate wiki technology. They perceive their mission as fully
open access, including write access, and are content to rely on human
editorial processes and revisions. More than content, they feel that
there is intrinsic value in this approach.
I tend to agree with Jed that there are clear applications for access
control, and that good fences improve relations between neighbors. But
this isn't part of the wiki mindset.
