The agorics papers themselves were published in 1988, well before the
creation of Agorics Inc. No patents were filed on the ideas in these
papers.

I do think that agoric computing is different enough to justify the
creation of a new list -- please proceed.
However, I would suggest, as I have suggested before, that all
discussions and inquiries about patents happen first by private
off-list emails. Please post patent issues publicly only afterwards,
once you're confident there are compelling enough reasons to discuss
these issues publicly. When uncertain, please always err on the side
of not discussing patents publicly.
