Brr. We need to do better than that, or nobody will want to use it.  
There are far too many independent, abstractly-expressed options there.

Attenuation is certainly important, but it has to be -- and to appear  
-- usable.

I'd explain in more detail and try to construct a better mockup, but I  
don't have the time right now.
