layperson trying to think of middle-ground designs: could you have a
simplest-possible virtualized app which is itself safe and secure
which runs on your desktop machine (and some day automatically wires
up to all the other instances of it you run on all your other
machines, including backup and CDNs) as an application, which runs a
little web server to allow the sharing you mention? it would really
just be a storage unit like the (recently busted :-) ones available in
MacOS or Vista. is there a current-day capability software dev
language/tool one could use to make something that's a real product?
