I regret using the example of an insulting
misinterpretation of one's words, thereby wrongly
implying that a person on the list was insultingly
misinterpreting my words.
When one is misunderstood, one should of course always
assume that one is unclear, rather than that the
interlocutor is stupid, or is deliberately ignoring the
actual content of one's words in order to demonstrate
status.
It is now apparent to me that I was unclear, though I am
still quite unable to see what was unclear about what I
said, or how I could express myself more plainly.
