Indeed.  If one is to rely (softly) upon visual cues in this manner, they 
should be securely set but also configurable, as there will be some 
fraction of the population that are (for instance) red-green colorblind, 
etc.  Such users may want to substitute a distinct font in place of a 
distinct color.
