i believe i have gotten lost in this thread, apologies.

is it because users thinking of them as URLs would not be secure? if
so, this feels like some form of security through obscurity.

or more something like because they would expire and become useless,
which would frustrate the user? using a really different protocol part
of the url might help some small amount.
