Do most users look for a "make a link to this page" feature in this
case? I do. For example, when using google maps, and I want to send
the current view to someone.
My guess is that users intuitively classify web pages into two kinds:
"shareable" and "not shareable". The shareable ones are the ones
that you didn't have to log in to see, or if you are already logged
in then you guess whether this page is the sort of "public" and
authorityless page that probably doesn't require a login. So, pages
that users think are probably "shareable" are mostly only static
content and in-page movies/games.
