By the way, it might be legal for you to use Bob in that way under the
principle of Fair Use:

There are four (main) tests of whether a given use is Fair Use or not.
Quoting from wikipedia:
1. the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is
of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
(Your slides are for scholarly or educational purpose, rather than commercial.)
2. the nature of the copyrighted work;
3. the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to
the copyrighted work as a whole; and
4. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the
copyrighted work.
(Publishing your slides probably doesn't reduce the demand for Bob the
Builder shows and merchandise among the world's children.)
