Right, and that would be great!  Just saying we may want to plan for the
worst.

But I think that once we have a working demo up which we can actually show
people, they'll come around quite quickly.  All this UI stuff sounds very
complicated when written down, and that tends to make people think that
users will never get it.  But I think in practice it will be a very
intuitive experience.

Sure you can, if you can get the user to run a local web server which
provides REST APIs for those devices.  Of course, getting browser support
would be much better, but it's not strictly necessary.
