Fair enough, although I am unconvinced that this would be easier or
more likely to happen (in wide adoption, not as a research experiment)
than getting browser vendors to implement changes.

I do wonder if it would be feasible to implement a video interface
(webcam) this way, but I admit that I have no idea how flash does it
now.
