Apropos of Files (but not especially this thread) I wrote
<http://www.mediacity.com/~norm/File.s.html> about Java specs and Files in
particular. I could at least double the category of unsaid things and I
think that I could tripple it. This was in response to an public expired
invitation to help clarify Java specs. I have heard no response from Sun.
