That's what I thought.  As I stated at the beginning, I didn't take you be 
be advocating that there not be any mutable containers available anywhere.  
Just that they should be left out of the library explained and made 
available for normal use.  Assuming we agree to relegate mutable containers 
to a dusty appendix of our toolbox (how's that for mixing metaphors), the 
precise design of those mutable containers becomes a lower priority matter.
