Now it's *my* turn to be confused, since this is what KeyKOS actually has. A
start key encodes a data byte. Think of the data byte as a facet identifier.

The difference, I think, is that the coarser the object the more expensive
it is to contemplate new facets. Facets are cheap in a programming language,
and relatively expensive in an OS.
