CHANGE TO CVS

Because eros-os.org is physically moving, it would be a good idea for those
of you with checked-out repositories to take a moment to double check some
things before the move. In particular, if your CVS setup is pointing to
eros.cis.upenn.edu, you should revise it to point to cvs.eros-os.org as soon
as possible.
Places to check for this:
1. The CVSROOT environment variable
2. $HOME/.cvspass
3. .../CVS/Repository (all of them)
In all cases, you *should* be able to simply change the machine name from
eros.cis.upenn.edu to cvs.eros-os.org without a problem. If for some reason
this doesn't work in the cvspass file, delete that line and re-execute the
cvs login command.
Those of you using ssh may also want to check your ssh config files if you
have set up host name aliases.
Once the machine cutover happens, you may find that cvs.eros-os.org becomes
temporarily invisible. Our domain name table is currently set to update very
quickly, so this disruption shouldn't be for long.
For the mailing lists I will set up forwarding so that there will be no
visible disruption. Ditto for the web site, which will run at both locations
in parallel until the cutover is complete.
With a bit of luck, the new machines will be running sometime next week or
the week after.
Regards.
