Versions of Java revisited

I encourage going to 1.3, but I also encourage waiting until the BlackDown
port is considered stable. If you recall, the 1.1 Blackdown port took two or
three eternities to be completed, and by the time it passed conformance the
1.3 jdk was released on other platforms. I'ld sure hate to get into a
situation where we didn't run anywhere because we were on a jdk that was
de-facto unsupported.

This sort of crap -- the lack of stable linux ports plus the lack of a
public specification -- is why I elected not to write more of the EROS
user-mode code in Java.
