eros-os.org is back up, but...

eros.cis has been going up and down like a yo-yo. I initially thought we
were suffering the slashdot effect due to a recent mention, but it now
appears that critmail may be the culprit.

Critmail is taking an incredible amount of memory and exhausting available
swap space. I have (reluctantly) temporarily disabled critmail. All of the
email is still going into the archive files, and I will figure out how to
make it all web accessable again after I get back from moving our house
(translate: sometime in the last week of July or first week of August). My
apologies for the disruption I know this will cause. I simply don't have
time to debug critmail right now.

Actually, I've been considering switching over to just do all of this using
a news server. One of the problems with email is that the threads continue
to be lost in spite of critmail's efforts. A news server that simply never
expires the news might do equally well, and might do better at keeping the
threads together.

Opinions on this option?
