Unfortunately he is right: this is the list of supported JDK's as I 
know of:

jdk 1.1.x, any platform:  does work
jdk 1.2.0, any platform:  does work
jdk 1.2.1, any platform:  does work
jdk 1.2.2, non-solaris:   does work
jdk 1.2.2, solaris:       does NOT work
jdk 1.3.x, any platform:  does NOT work

The jdk 1.2.2 on solaris problem is mentioned on the webpage. I'll 
update the webpage to mention the jdk 1.3 problem as well.
