Charles Evans, the founder of picoIPO http://www.picoIPO.com , has
generously donated a Macintosh G4 machine to the E project!

I expect to use this to port E to the Mac. E has been ported to the Mac
before, but it had fatal problems (a newline incompatibility reported by
Charles Vollum). Although probably a simple problem, without a Mac it was
impossible to diagnose and fix. There may be other problems as well (eg,
file-path separators issues, ":" vs "/"), which I will now be able to check
and fix.

This won't all happen overnight, as I first have to upgrade the machine to
Mac OS X in order to install a Java 2. Note to local Mac hackers: I'll may
be asking you for help.

Most important of course, the machine is tangerine, which, unlike orange,
rhymes ;) . Thank you Charles!!

Charles' picoIPO is one of the most exciting prospects for doing well by
doing good. If successful, it could do an astonishing amount of good for
the poorest parts of the world. For those familiar with Grameen bank and
its micro-lending program http://www.picoipo.com/plan/plan.html , which did
very well by doing an astonishing amount of good for the poor, the following
analogy is a good first approximation:

Grameen bank is to debt as picoIPO is to equity.

Rarely does an idea with such high potential leverage come along. Check it
out!

        Cheers,
