Thanks to this message from MarkM and also one from steve jenson, I've
learned some things already. Hopefully you guys are also learning
things (about newbies being exposed to E for the first time) from
watching me learn things. ;-)

Cool! I'm pleased that you are considering dropping it. My personal
learning style leans heavily towards "read examples and then try
variations" instead of "actually read and understand the rules", so
alternative keywords for the same thing really bother me because it
makes it harder to guess what code means.
I'll continue the "newbie syntax extravaganza" later.
