[E-Lang] empirical and statistical comparison of languages

I've never before read a paper comparing programming languages that I trusted.
I like this one, probably because it confirms my prejudices.  (I have
significant experience with with C, C++, Java, Perl, Python and Tcl, but not
Rexx.)  But also because it involves 80 separate programs written by different
people in those six languages that all do the same task.

I especially recommend to E folk the comments at the end about using an extant
data structure (e.g. tree or hashtable) or writing a new one.

BTW, MarcS: I would like it if you have a ref to the paper on productivity and
Smalltalk.
