I've heard rumblings on and off of interest in moving in that direction.  
But I haven't seen any indications anyone is prepared to mount the kind of 
all out frontal assault that it would still take.  I'd like to be wrong 
about this.  EC had a wonderful vision.

Funny you should mention that...  My next emails will announce the new 
0.8.10alpha1 release of E, which has a simple form of persistence we're 
calling "identity persistence".  More soon...
