[e-lang] Security is the Turning Point?

According to John Allen, keynote speaker at the latest
International Lisp Conference, the turning point that
will force software engineering to become a real
engineering discipline instead of a hacker's paradise is
*security*.  He substantiates this claim by historical
analysis of other disciplines.  For example, when did
other engineering disciplines start using calculus
(surprisingly late in the US: only between WWI and WWII).
