I thought you had a 30-page limit?  When you have a large page limit,
the space concern is more a matter of holding the reader's attention
rather than fitting into a number of pages, and a figure will help
with that even if it means using a little more space.

A good figure can actually save you a chunk of text, so it may not be
as expensive as you think.
