MarcS owns the copyright on E in a Walnut. My remarks below apply only
to my writing at erights.org and related postings.

The vast majority of my writings at erights.org is already covered by
my notice at the bottom of each page:

"Unless stated otherwise, all text on this page which is either
unattributed or by
Mark S. Miller is hereby placed in the public domain."

Obviously, if I have accidentally posted without attribution any
content which I have no rights to PD, then the above notice doesn't
actually apply. It's worded that way because, AFAIK, all unattributed
content at erights.org is mostly by me, such that I do have the rights
to PD it. If anyone is aware of any exceptions, now would be a good
time to alert me.

Likewise, almost all my email contains the sig line

"Text by me above is hereby placed in the public domain."

There remains the same inevitable tricky issue about what text is
indeed "by me", but I don't expect serious problems here either.

My thesis is the main work I've posted which I haven't PDed. It's
copyright notice, which I've always considered interim until I decide
how I want to weaken it, is

Copyright (c) 2006, Mark Samuel Miller. All rights reserved.
Permission is hereby granted to make and distribute verbatim
copies of this document
without royalty or fee. Permission is granted to quote excerpts
from this documented
provided the original source is properly cited.

There are also some relevant HP tech reports whose copyrights are
probably owned by HP.

Regarding the default for the wiki, I consider the GFDL to be
disqualified simply because of its length. Any agreement that needs
that much text is neither simple enough nor permissive enough.
Something X-like, such as the Haskell license would be fine. My
preference, if no one sees a problem with it, is still PD. It's hard
to get more permissive than that!
