personally i think you are on the money.
another option is to actually sell the aspects of security that really
matter to joe user. things like: your photos aren't lost; vague hints
at how other people can't see your stuff (concretely: bank
information. vaguely: pr0n); 1800freecreditreport.com style songs;
that sort of thing.
basically, the way security is usually sold is not something that
"shows", i think. it isn't visceral in the appropriate ways.
but of course it all must be easy to use.
