As of Gingerbread, a normal build of Android on a Linux host includes
a host-targeted version of dalvikvm. Though it's not an officially
supported deployment configuration, we run regression tests on it
regularly (for an x86 host).
I am personally interested in hearing any experiences (positive or
negative) of people running E on Dalvik, either on Android or on a big
computer.
Also, FWIW, the floating point parsing code that Dalvik includes is
derived from Apache Harmony. AIUI, the Harmony floating point parsing
code had a bug similar to the one that's now being widely re-reported
against the JDK, but it was fixed several years ago already.
Cheers,
