I would like if the discussion will be summariazed somewhere it
becames difficult to follow. EROS site is sielent about GUI
and summary of this disccusion may be a very good design note.
My starting point for format is following. It is quite difficult
for me to host something right now, so could someone put this
summary on the web and maintain it to reflect discussion going t
here, and as I said I'm not expert in GUI.
Solutions
---------
Solution 1. X server.
- already exists
- a lot of code and dirvers
- stable architecture
- will allow most X Apps to be run
- security flaws (they are "well known", but not for me, so they
should be specified)
Solution 2. XUL based GUI
- already exists in most diffcult parts (parser, renderer,
and interpreter in mozilla)
- drivers for cards should be writen
- easily adapatable to other GUI systems
Solution 3. add your item here
- some aspect
- anther aspect
Aspects
-------
Aspect 1. already exists
This feature is important and desirable because of ... (text of quoted message)
This feature can cause following problems: inheriting flaws, inconsitency with
the rest of architecture, ...
Aspect 2. other aspect.
Positive effect.
Negative effect.
