Yes. I'm guessing that the goal is to have persistent discussions or
idea brainstorming? Another option that I am rather fond of is a
Wiki... it's a collection of linked web pages which the users can edit
without having to know any HTML. But it's nature is just a bit more
permanent than news; it's usually organized topically rather than
cronologically.
