As many of you have by now figured out for yourselves, the EROS project
has ended. I wanted to make it official, and at some point in the next
couple of weeks I will be updating the EROS site accordingly.
** Where The Action Is: Coyotos
The action has now moved to Coyotos, which is the successor to EROS.
Bits and pieces of Coyotos are starting to become visible at
http://www.coyotos.org
I encourage you, if you are interested, to join the coyotos-dev mailing
list, which you can do at
http://www.coyotos.org/mailman/listinfo
most of the Coyotos project effort to date has been focused on the BitC
programming language, but Eric Northup and I will soon be getting the
Coyotos spec going.
** Getting the EROS Code
If you still want to download EROS, the best way is to download the
src.eros and src.eros-xenv modules from eros.cs.jhu.edu using rsync:
# cd to some holding directory
rsync -avz rsync://www.eros-os.org/src.eros/ ./eros/
rsync -avz rsync://www.eros-os.org/src.eros-xenv/ ./eros-xenv-src/
Note that the EROS source tree currently contains a useless copy of an
updated compiler and some large libraries that we never finished
porting. I plan to clean up the tree some in the interests of space, but
I'm not going to have time to do that in the next few weeks. I'm also
going to update the build instructions, but again, not for a couple of
weeks.
Do come on by the Coyotos site, and join the discussion list there. All
are welcome.
