I am resending this because the first send appears to have failed. My apologies if you receive it twice...
First, this is to announce the arrival of a new mailing list: eros-announce. This list will be used for occasional status updates and informational announcements related to EROS. It should not be a high-volume list.
Second, there is now an EROS home page, which can be found at:
http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~eros
We're still under construction on it, and the machine will be down for the next several hours (it's now Dec 12, 5pm est), but give it a try tomorrow. These pages will be periodically updated with new progress updates, and will eventually provide a way to get a copy of the EROS system.
Finally, EROS has reached a new milestone: we've managed to read the first node off of the disk. This is the first step in running the first process, and indicates that much of the disk subsystem and the object cache is working correctly. With a little luck, we'll be running small processes by mid-January, and have an operating environment up in the June-September range.
